Call for Proposals: 

Artistic Director for Creative Nova Scotia Awards Gala 

Deadline: June 22nd, 2018 

 

Arts Nova Scotia and the Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council are seeking proposals from an artistic director or artistic team to create and implement an artistic vision for the Creative Nova Scotia Awards Gala taking place in November 2018.   

 

About the Gala 

Presented by Arts Nova Scotia and the Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council, the Creative Nova Scotia Awards Gala (the Gala) is an annual event that celebrates excellence in artistic achievement, notably in the announcements of two major awards, the Portia White Prize and the Lieutenant Governor's Masterworks Award. Winners of the Prix Grand-Pré, the Established Artist, Emerging Artist and Indigenous Artist awards and the Community Arts and Culture Recognition Award are also honoured. Collectively, the awards are worth $95,000.  

 

Duties of the Artistic Director/Artistic Team will include:  

  • -  Developing and executing artistic vision/concept for the Gala. 

  • -  Working with an event management company, Arts Nova Scotia, the Gala Committee, and relevant arts and cultural associations to build dynamic artistic content for the gala. 

  • -  Pursuing artists and creative content which is innovative, relevant, diverse and reflective of different artistic disciplines and provincial regions. 

  • -  Creating and planning performances, selecting an emcee, creating event script. 

  • -  Directing and coordinating all aspects of performances, awards presentation and other content in collaboration with an event management company.   

  • -  Working with a predefined budget

  • -  A one-page proposal outlining: 

  • -  Your artistic concept for the gala 

  • -  Consideration of how the artists you engage relate to the awards. 

  • -  A CV highlighting related experience and contact information. Brief bios of your team, if applicable. 

  • -  If you do not have previous experience directing live performance, please indicate the person on your team will take on this role.
