Support Material for Arts Nova scotia Grants

Support material is important to telling the story of your project and your practice as an artist.

Making sure that your support material is seen and understood can make all the difference in helping people get on board with your idea.

Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your support material:

Tip #1: Format matters

If your files aren’t in the right format, then people may not be able to view them. Have a look at the support material section of your application form for a list of our accepted file formats. Audio and video material should be submitted through links to streaming sites like Vimeo, Youtube or Soundcloud.  

A few things to remember:

Only submit up to the allowable number of pages or files. Anything above the limit will not be reviewed.

Links to file transfer sites like WeTransfer, Dropbox, or Google Drive cannot be accepted.

Always double check to make sure any links you send are working.

Tip #2: Number your files

Part of telling a story with your support material is making sure people see it in the right order. File numbering is a great way to do that. Think about the order in which you want people to see your work. Then number your files so they show up in that order.

Tip #3: Use Annotations 

Annotations help give context to the pieces you’ve chosen to submit.  

You know your work better than anyone, but others may be seeing it for the first time.  

Annotations help them understand the story you’re trying to tell.
