Morgan Toney

JUNO-nominated Mi'kmaq fiddler and singer, Morgan Toney, wields music as an almost alchemical force, blending the fiery fiddling of Cape Breton Island with ancient Mi’kmaq melodies, dating back up to 500 years. Through his fusion of Mi’kmaq and Celtic traditions, dubbed Mi’kmaltic, Toney bridges Atlantic music and Mi’kmaq teachings, forging a path where song and fiddle harmonize. His new album "Resilience" earned him a 2024 Juno Nomination for Traditional Roots Album of the Year and two 2024 East Coast Music Award wins for Roots/Traditional Recording of the Year and Indigenous Artist of the Year.
