2015 Lieutenant Governor Masterworks Award

Arts Nova Scotia provides financial support to the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia Masterworks Award. First presented in 2006, this $25,000 annual award looks to recognize, reward and encourage excellence in all creative media and to highlight works that have a strong connection to Nova Scotia in the context of national and international achievement.

The winner of the 2015 award is Ocean, a collection of poems by Sue Goyette of Halifax. The remaining finalists for this year, who receive $3,000 each, are:

  • It is Solved by Walking, published in 2012 by Playwrights Canada Press, by playwright Catherine Banks, Sambro, Halifax Regional Municipality.
  • Love Triangle, a piece by composer Dinuk Wijeratne, Halifax.
  • Travellers, a set of enamel-on-aluminium panels by visual artist Sara Hartland-Rowe, Halifax.
  • Dancing in the Third Act, a one-hour piece danced by seniors choreographed by Randy Glynn, Granville Ferry, Annapolis Co.
